about
On the road to creating her seventh album, musician/singer-songwriter Allison Crowe teams up with a longtime friend in orchestrator, arranger and producer Kayla Schmah.

Crowe, at home in, both, Nanaimo, British Columbia and Corner Brook, Newfoundland, (on Canada's Pacific and Atlantic coasts), and L.A.-based film composer Schmah first met, a decade ago, on Salt Spring Island, BC.

The pair are making art together today. "Oh, do not ask, 'What is it?' Let us go and make our visit." To keep music flowing while Crowe's upcoming album/CD is created, here's a pre-album version of "Going Home Tonight" (one of 11 songs that will be in the collection).

There's lots more info to come, naturally, along with all the music. May you enjoy this free preview!

The album cover is also a preview, and includes the image of "Look at Me" by Tara Thelen - a painting in the collection of Dutch art-lover Maurits Godschalx.

Going Home Tonight

Words and Music by Allison Crowe

I know the night is on us
and la lune it moves above
just try not to close your eyes

The windows float around
and the ice flies by our heads
and skirts the surface now

And you've seen
the darker side of me
and you still find a light
it's not much further now
we're going home tonight

Le soleil is a reminder
that what once was cold can warm
the dark can fall behind her
it's in your shadow now
the winter's at its end
and all can fall to blindness of the freezing rain

and I see the darker side of you
and I still find a light
it's not much further now
we're going home tonight

forget what you have learned here
it doesn't matter now
not while the grass is greening

L'oiseau is loudly singing
and the sun becomes her home
and everything is fallen
the curtains drop as she takes hold

And sees the darker side of me
and she still finds a light
it's not much further now
we're going home tonight

And I see the darker side of me
and I still find a light
it's not much further now
we're going home tonight
